April

When I first envisioned this shoot on the Toronto Islands, it all sounded very simple: buy a ferry ticket, grab a coffee to go, and frame the sunset.

In reality, it blossomed into a small adventure that lasted several days. I spent hours poring over maps and Google Earth, testing angles, matching lenses and focal lengths against the skyline. I even downloaded several flight-tracking apps, determined to catch an aircraft in the air — right where the CN Tower turns the horizon into a living postcard.

It was a quiet joy to witness the runway’s measured rhythm — every five to ten minutes, a silver-winged bird would lift from the tarmac, carrying another soul into the endless blue.

And on the final stretch, I let go of control. In both life and photography, it’s often the invisible flicker of luck — not the length of a checklist — that defines the frame.
